The L. R. Green Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Team recently held an opening ceremony for their TK Art Wall. The new and exciting addition to our TK playground was funded by the Mike Caston Escondido Education Foundation grant through the Escondido Education Foundation.
We are proud to offer a comprehensive, full-day Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program at all EUSD schools! Designed with developmentally appropriate early childhood learning experiences, our TK program serves as a bridge between preschool and kindergarten, helping young learners build a strong foundation for future success.
TK students benefit in countless ways as they develop social, emotional, physical, and academic readiness skills in a fun and engaging environment. They also have access to a range of valuable EUSD opportunities, including:
Before and after-school programs
No-cost breakfast and lunch
Expanded learning opportunities
We are currently accepting TK registrations, and we encourage families to visit the district’s website and register today!
Here are this week’s updates and reminders:
Time change: Longer days are on the horizon – it’s time to spring forward. Daylight saving time began at 2 a.m. this morning, Sunday, March 9. Your clocks should have moved forward one hour on Saturday night. Enjoy the extra daylight!
Celebrating school social workers: In honor of National School Social Work Week, please join me in sharing our gratitude for the invaluable support these professionals provide for our students and their families. School social workers are trained mental health professionals who play an important role in education, supporting the academic and social success of students in EUSD. They serve as a link between the home, school, and community. Congratulations to FOUR of our EUSD School Social Workers who are being honored as nominees for School Social Worker of the Year by the San Diego County Office of Education as a part of their School Social Work Week Commemoration next week. Congratulations to Rachel Barnes (Mission Middle School), Simone Haleftiras (North Broadway Elementary), Ala Naaman (Miller Elementary), and Diana Urbina Sandoval (SEAS - Miller). They will be honored at a ceremony held by SDCOE next Friday, March 7th.
EUSD Flag Rugby League is back! Through our continued partnership with the San Diego Legion, we’re excited for another season of Flag Rugby at EUSD! Students have already kicked off practices twice a week after school and competed in their first game on March 1 at Rincon Middle School. This program is a fantastic opportunity for students to build teamwork, stay active, and develop new skills—all while families come together to cheer them on in a fun and supportive environment. We hope to see you out there to cheer on your school! Here are links to the schedules: Flag Rugby Elementary Flyer (PDF) / Flag Rugby Middle School Flyer (PDF)
Fishing for a cause: EUSD is a proud member of the Kiwanis Club of Escondido – Hidden Valley, which supports a number of programs in our community with a focus on making a positive impact on the lives of children. We are pleased to invite our families to attend the club’s Trout Derby fundraiser on Saturday and Sunday, April 5 and April 6, at Dixon Lake. All proceeds support programs in Escondido. The park entrance fee is $5 per vehicle. The fishing derby entry fee is $20 for adults, and $14 for children and seniors. This family-friendly event also includes free Kiddie Ponds on the pier for children 8 and younger. View the Kiwanis Trout Derby flyer for complete details (PDF). In addition, numerous volunteer opportunities are available at the event; to get involved, contact the club by email.
Early Education Enrollment: New Student Enrollment opened on January 7, 2025, for Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Special Education Preschool. EUSD offers a full-day Transitional Kindergarten program to bridge the path between preschool and Kindergarten.
